Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Dane Rimko Selected as Head Girls Soccer Coach

For immediate release:

Dane Rimko to assume reigns as Head Girls Soccer Coach

Tony Cipollone, Director of Athletics, has recommended Dane Rimko to be the next Head Girls Soccer Coach for the storied Lady Demon soccer program pending Board of Education approval  The opening was created when longtime coach Scott Jones, retired from coaching at the conclusion of last season.  Jones had been the head coach for 16 years and had taken the Demons to 14 OHSAA District Final games in his tenure and concluded last season by being named the Ohio High School Girls Soccer Coach of the Year.

Coach Rimko is a 2011 graduate of Westlake and was a key contributor on the boys soccer team, being named All SWC his junior and senior seasons while acting as a captain for the squad.  He graduated from Mercyhurst University with a B.S. in Interior Design.  Dane also recently received his M.F.A. in Furniture Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).  While at SCAD, he was a volunteer assistant coach for the men’s soccer program (NAIA) assisting in administration and practices.  He served as an assistant coach for the Lady Demons last season.

While at Mercyhurst (NCAA Division 2), Rimko was a 4 year letter winner and a member of Laker teams that went to 4 consecutive NCAA tournaments.  His second year the team went all the way to the semi-finals.  The combined four year record, while Dane was there, was 63-22-2 which included 2 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Titles.

“Dane has a vision for the program of not only to continue what Scott Jones was able to accomplish but to hopefully take our team and program to the next level which is competing for state championships.  He has some great fresh ideas that I think will energize the program and he looks forward to working with our youth players to get them excited to become Demons.  He has a grasp on what motivates high school athletes and knows what it takes to compete at the top level of the sport.  We look forward to a new era in Lady Demon soccer with Dane in charge”, said Cipollone.
