Shawn Hood, Demons Varsity boys basketball coach for seven seasons, is stepping down from his coaching role for personal reasons.
“With some things going on in my life currently, I just felt that it would not be fair to the basketball players and administration of Westlake to not have my concentration and focus solely on the success of the program, so I have decided at this time to step aside for the good of the program”, said Hood.
In his seven seasons as coach, the Demons had some notable moments, including SWC championships in the 2011-12 season, and seeing high school athletes successfully compete at the collegiate level. Hood and his staff also revamped the Varsity Prep travel program and resuscitated the Dribbling Demons program.
The Athletic Department strives to provide a good learning experience for student-athletes, including focusing on player development at the younger levels and helping individuals and teams advance in competitions at the varsity level.
A succession plan is being formulated and more details will be released at a later date.
