Boys Varsity Cross Country · Walsh, Boys XC take 5th at SWC Preview


The boys cross country team opened up the season placing 5th at the SWC Preview meet behind Avon Lake, Lakewood, Amherst, and Avon. The Demons were led by senior captain Colin Walsh who crossed the line in 5th place in a new best time of 17:26. Sophomore KJ Mueller finished in 11th place with a new personal record of 18:00. Matthew Eadie took in 18th place, David Daniel was 29th, and Lance Clemons raced to a 37th place finish. Jake Rintamaki and Eric Kronz rounded out the varsity runners with 40th and 50th place finishes, respectively.

Nearly every Westlake runner who competed at the SWC Preview a year ago ran faster than last season. Starting out the season with new best times were Colin Walsh (17:26), KJ Mueller (18:00), David Daniel (18:38), Sammy Zanotti (19:27), Joe Gray (20:56), and Mickey Hamila (25:09). Great job to the guys who competed in their first high school XC race, Mo Alnaseri (25:44), Tyler Cleland (28:20), Jack Colan (23:17), Haddy Dardir (20:42), Ethan Fulton (24:32), Garrett Haghighi (23:56),  Scott Rennard (21:56), Tyler Schmitz (21:48), Charlie Stipanovich (24:33), Yikun Zhou (20:42).
