The Westlake boys’ cross country team placed ninth at the Kenston Frank Gibas Invitational in a field of twenty-five teams. The Demons were paced by senior Colin Walsh (27th) and sophomore KJ Mueller (52nd) crossing the line in 17:10 and 17:40 respectively. Junior Matthew Eadie raced to an 87th place finish in 17:59. Placing 89th and 91st were senior Lance Clemons and Junior David Daniel, running 18:18 and 18:19 for new season best times. Rounding out the varsity seven were sophomores Jake Rintamaki (18:26, 93rd) and JP Mogyordy (18:31, 99th). Senior Eric Kronz (18:49), and juniors Kris Regas (19:38) and Sammy Zanotti (20:03) also competed hard for the Demons in the varsity race. There were no team scores in the JV race, but there were many solid performances by Demon runners led by junior Eli Harbaugh (19:25), sophomore Ivan Tucholski (19:49), senior Nathan Hsaio (19:58) and sophomore Luke Heierding (20:00).
Many of the boys ran new personal record times. Racing to new PRs were Colin Walsh (17:10), KJ Mueller (17:40), Matthew Eadie (17:59), David Daniel (18:19), Jacob Rintamaki (18:26), JP Mogyordy (18:31), Nathan Hsaio (19:58), Haddy Dardir (20:39), Yikun Zhou (20:12), Tyler Schmitz (20:16), Sammy Dawson (21:40), Joe Gray (20:44), Ryan Zickes (21:56), Ethan Fulton (22:02), Garrett Haghighi (22:30) and Mo Alnaseri (23:54).
