Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls Take 3rd at Vermilion

Returning to the Vermilion Invitational after a one-year hiatus, the girls enjoyed another great team finish as they earned their second 3rd place finish in a row.

Working together for the duration of the race, freshman two-sport standout Sydney Peer and senior co-captain Teagan Walsh competed with some of the best runners in the area to once again medal, this time with Teagan taking a top 10 spot while Sydney finished right behind to take 11th.

Running their best races of the season, junior Ashley Boyd and senior co-captain Ashley Butcher put in two fantastic performances as both competed extremely well throughout the entirety of the race, with Ashley Boyd pulling away and medaling with a top 20 finish as the race came to a close.

Showing great mental toughness after a difficult week of practice, fellow senior co-captain Olivia Irwin ran a very solid race, finishing in the top 30, to secure the team’s 3rd place finish, while Jane Protos and Maeve Kilroy both ran well to wrap up the Varsity team.

In the Open Race, sophomore Alexa Higgs once again led the way, and once again finished in the top 10, this time running a great time to take 5th

Close behind, Lila Sucher, Olivia Clarke, Maria Torres, and Allison Boker all put in some of their best performances of the season to finish in the top 20.

Also running well, and setting either career, course, or season PR’s, included Eva Stipanovich, Brenna McFadden, Emily Templeton, Molly Wood, Moira McCarthy, Allison Hook, and Paige Bowman.
