Westlake won its last regular season game tonight at Amherst Steele 77-64.
Both teams played an aggressive game and traded buckets in the 1st quarter. The Demons were in early foul trouble, including being part of a double technical foul in the 2nd quarter, but continued to pull ahead. Justin Garcia hit a 3 pointer to send Westlake into halftime with a 35-19 lead.
Anthony Rego caught fire in the 3rd quarter, scoring 6 points in the first minute after the break. Rego continued to find the basket in the 2nd half of the game to score an impressive 1,000th career point during the 4th quarter.
The Demons secured the victory with great team work and strong defense. Rego led the team in scoring with 32 points, followed by Jacob May with 15, Garcia scored 13 points, Joey Geagea scored 8 points, Dylan Bednar scored 6 and Matt Sarsam chipped in 3 points.
Westlake finished the season 9-13 (9-9 conference) and will play their opening round of the District Tournament on the road at Avon Lake on Wednesday, Feb 27.
