It wasn’t always pretty but a win is a win. Paced by the starting pitching of Emerson Tucholski and the bat of birthday boy Joe Paul, the Demons bested Bay 10-6 on the Rockets home turf. Emerson pitched around five Demon errors while he was on the hill. Those errors allowed Bay to score six unearned runs, five in the Bay half of the fifth inning when the Horns booted three chances. The damage could have been worse but the starting hurler issued only one free pass in his five innings of work. He allowed 7 safeties, no earned runs and K’d two Rocket hitters. Fogle came on in two innings of relief allowing no runs, a hit and a walk and striking out two.

Paul celebrated his birthday by going 4 for 5 at the dish and driving in 4 runs. Jack Hlavin also had a pair of safeties for Westlake. Scott Rennard drove in two for the Demons. Multiple runs were scored by Nick Juhas (3), Rennard (2), Collin Burrows (2), and Patrick Hartup (2).

Today’s web gem was an around-the-horn double play — Rennard to Burrows to Hlavin after the Bay nine opened the fourth inning with a walk.

Next up: At home against Avon Lake on Wednesday at 4:30. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s going to be a beautiful day so we hope to “See ya at the yard!”
