The Westlake Demons Girls Varsity Team edged out Garfield Heights in a very close match today. After losing Game #1 with a below-average performance, the Demons convincingly won Game #2, setting a new team and league high total of 841 pins. Game #3 was a real nail-biter with both teams struggling to score, and the Demons were fortunate to sneak away with a tie. After rolling respectable Baker games of 162 and 150, the Demons walked away with the total pin victory and a new team high of 2516. Today the Demons were led again by Junior Peyton Hedges rolling personal and team best scores of a 219 game and a 526 series. Junior Charlotte Button added a solid 461 series, Senior Bridgette Watkins added 424, Sophomore Eve Anitas and Freshman Taylor Hedges combined for a 413, and Senior Holly Tomkalski added a 380 series.
The JV Team was unmatched today, but had some very notable performances. Senior Alexis Sauer and Emily Fankhauser both posted season high personal best series of 477 and 458, and high games of 190 and 176 respectively. With so many bowlers able to perform at high levels at any given moment, finding the right combination of 5 varsity bowlers each week is becoming a real challenge, which is an envious problem for 2nd-year Coach Button.
