The WHS Lady Demons continued to improve as a team in today’s SWC Championship Tournament. They finished the day with their best-ever tournament series of 3085, good enough for 2nd place behind a strong Midview team posting a 3186. This strong 2nd-place finish allowed the Demons to finish in 3rd place in the SWC for the year – which was determined by a combination of their performance in both the Eagle Challenge and today’s SWC Tournaments. Out of almost 6000 pins, they finished only 10 pins behind North Olmsted for 2nd place. The team was led today by Junior Charlotte Button (484), Junior Peyton Hedges (470), and Freshman Taylor Hedges (467) who were consistent and steady all day long. Notable single-game scores included Sophomore Jenny Wisniewski with a team-high 173, Senior Bridgette Watkins (158), and Senior Holly Tomkalski (141). In the Baker Games, Senior Alexis Sauer really shined with many key strikes and spares. Additionally, Button and P. Hedges finished 5th and 6th highest individually in the Conference combined tournaments. Up next for the Lady Demons is the OHSAA Sectional Tournament on Sunday Feb 18th, where the squad has a good chance of finishing in the top 3 to qualify for a District Tournament spot.
