The WHS Girls Varsity Bowling team finished their regular tournament season with a strong 3rd place finish at the Black and Gold Sectional Warmup Tournament held at Rollhouse Parma. The 3rd place finish, out of a pool of 15 girl’s teams, is a strong indication that this varsity squad is ready for the upcoming Southwest Conference (Feb 10th) and Sectional Qualifier (Feb 17th) tournaments to end the season. The lady Demons were led today by the usual “1-2 punch” of Senior Peyton Hedges, who was awarded the 2nd place All-Tournament Team medal with a 579 series, and Senior Charlotte Button whose 506 series placed her just outside the Top 8 medalists. Joining them with solid scores were Junior Jenny Wisniewski (465), and Sophomore Taylor Hedges (462). Rounding out the tournament team today was Senior Eve Anitas and Sophomore Gabi Atanaskovic combining for a 363 series. The team’s 2375 total after 3 games placed them just into 2nd place, but their 869 total in 6 Baker games just wasn’t enough to hold on to the 2nd place trophy at the end of the day. Still, the strong team performance proves that they are expected to grab one of the four qualifying positions at the State Sectional tournament and return to the State District Qualifier again this year.
