Today the Westlake Girls Varsity Bowling team punched their ticket to the State District Tournament next week by bowling their best scores of the entire season and finishing in 3rd place at Sectionals. After the first 3 regular games, Westlake was sitting in 6th place, and 43 pins from the 4th place cut line. However, the team really came together and scored an amazing, season-high Baker series of 990, leap-frogging 3 other teams to finish in 3rd place by 7 pins and making the cut by only 66 pins.

Leading the team again today were Seniors Gabrielle Hansen (515) and Taylor Hedges (499), with Taylor scoring a perfect 12 marks in 12 frames during the 6 Baker games. Also exceeding their averages today and posting their personal best series for the season were Sophomore Annabelle Bodi (459) and Junior Mel Beech (434). Seniors Rema Alsabony and Gabi Atanaskovic added 335 to round out the scoring.

Next up for the Demons will be a trip out to Freeway Lanes of Warren on Monday Feb 22nd to compete in their 4th State District Tournament in four years. The top 5 teams at this tournament will get to go on to the State Finals in Columbus.
